August 26 – 31, 2019 is our next 6-Day Recording Boot Camp at the new Southern California facility, which has some unique logistics.
The new studio facility.
The new studio is built into a big cabin in the Los Padres National Forrest just north of LA. Although we are technically a few miles north of the LA border, we are about an hour north of “The Valley” and about 90 minutes north of LAX airport and 75 minutes north of the Burbank airport in good traffic. We are also one hour south of Bakersfield. This is a beautiful mountain town that has some bars, restaurants, a swimming pool and golf (all of which are walkable from the studio, the village and some rental cabins). For students that will not have their own car, we can transport students between the studio and their cabin. The studio is about a 10 minute walk from the village.
There is an Inn, a modest hotel and a B&B in the village, and many rental cabins available via Airbnb, VRBO or our local Pine Mountain Club realtors.
This 6-Day Recording Boot Camp will have the same curriculum as all the others with one exception: The new studio is not currently equipped to record a full drum set, so about 30 minutes of the normal course will not happen. We will go in depth about drum recording and mixing, but cannot do part of the live demonstration. All students will, however, be given free membership to Ronan’s 12-hour Drum Recording Boot Camp online course. Any student that has already purchased the drum course will be given one free hour of private phone/Skype consulting with Ronan.
